This course is for anyone aged 16 to 19 interested in the Child or Adult Care sectors.

Core qualification:

Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce or Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce

This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 19 years of age.

It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children's environments including early years and social care. 

It covers a wide range of areas including:

  • safeguarding
  • health and safety
  • supporting speech
  • language
  • child development

Additional qualification:

Level 2 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities

This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills around supporting individuals with learning disabilities.

It is aimed at learners who support individuals with learning disabilities as part of their job role.

Supporting qualifications:

Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health, Social Care or Children and Young People's Settings

This qualification provides the knowledge to equip learners with an understanding of the health, social care and children and young people's sector and their role within it.

Topics include:

  • expectations of an employer
  • skills and attitudes required
  • current trends
  • how this influences the sector

Functional Skills (if needed)

  • Functional Skills Level 2 Maths
  • Functional Skills Level 2 English

Tutorials, Support and Enrichment

  • work experience
  • team building
  • community involvement
  • an understanding of all roles within the sector including administration roles
