This course is for anyone aged 19 or over.

What will you study

(key modules or content)

This programme will introduce you to the aviation industry and will develop your knowledge of airline and aviation operations on the ground.

Topics you will learn include the importance of health, safety and security procedures in the aviation industry.

You will find out about the different terminology used in the aviation industry, such as the phonetic alphabet and use of the 24-hour clock system.

The course will also cover elements of locational geography:

  • where airports are located
  • the key types of flights (scheduled and charter)
  • customers handled by the airports

You will practice customer service and team working skills, as well as aviation communication methods.

A large part of this programme focuses on skills in applying for aviation jobs. You will update your CV and develop your interview skills by participating in a simulated interview.

Entry requirements

You should have a basic level of English skills.

Please note: To gain future employment, for security purposes, you must be able to pass a DBS check and provide 5 years referencing history.
