Who the course is for

Must be aged 19 or over and have lived in the UK or EU for a minimum of three years.

For full funding you must:

  • be aged 19 or over
  • receive any state benefit payment (evidence required)
  • be unemployed or working less than 16 hours and seeking employment

What you will study

The aim of the 'Next Steps' course is to prepare learners for employment within the care sector.

The focus of this course is on the learner's individual and professional development, providing a clear pathway from vocational training into work.

It covers:

  • aspects of employment covered by law
  • sources and types of information
  • advice available in relation to employment rights and responsibilities
  • terms and conditions of a contract of employment
  • CV writing
  • interview skills
Entry requirementsThis course is for anyone aged over 19 years.

Progression and careers

You could progress to a Level 1 in Introduction to Early Years Settings or Level 1 in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
