Who is this course for? (eligibility and personal characteristics)

Must be aged 19 or over and have lived in the UK or EU for a minimum of three years.

For full funding you must be:

  • aged 19 or over
  • receive any state benefit payment (evidence required)
  • unemployed or working less than 16 hours and seeking employment

This course is suitable for those wishing for a career change, to refresh previous training and experience, or to regain employment after a career break.

It is ideal for those who wish to become employed or volunteer within all areas of health, children, adult care and education.

The course is intended to give learners an informed choice about the large range of work within care, teaching and volunteering.

It covers the work role of:

  • the volunteer
  • social carers
  • play workers
  • adult carers
  • child carers

Learners cover appropriate behaviours and attitudes for within the workplace.

You could progress to a Level 1 in Introduction to Early Years Settings or Level 1 in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
